Many people struggle to make sense of the Bible because of preconceived notions shaped by denominational traditions. At Biblical Support, we’re here to cut through the noise and help you understand Scripture as it is written. Let’s use the inductive Bible study method to explore this topic.

Step 1: Observe the Context
When studying Scripture, always start with the context. For example, in Jeremiah 29:11 (“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord…”), the original audience was the exiled Israelites in Babylon. By observing this, we see that this promise was about restoration after hardship. Using tools like HALOT, we find that the Hebrew word for “plans” (מַחֲשָׁבוֹת, maḥšāḇôṯ) means “thoughts” or “intentions,” emphasizing God’s mindfulness of His people.

Step 2: Interpret Through Scripture
Let Scripture interpret itself. Cross-referencing Romans 8:28 (“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him…”) shows God’s overarching purpose. The Greek word for “works” (synergei, συνεργεῖ) from BDAG highlights God’s active cooperation in aligning all things for good.

Step 3: Apply the Truth
Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us that even in trials, God’s plans lead to restoration and hope. How can you apply this? Trust God in difficulties, knowing He has a purpose.
